5-Day Devotional

- When we Hurt -

Carissa Campbell

This world is hurting. It oozes in every faction of life, and, unfortunately, it has knocked at your door too often. We live in a world where pain exists, but we serve a God who delights in healing and wholeness. Join me for this 5-day study “When we Hurt” and find insight and hope for your today. Give 5-10 minutes over the next five days and watch as your obedience and faithfulness opens the door for intimate healing and restoration. It is difficult to talk about our own pain, but it is much harder to hold on to our pain. If we open ourselves to the Redeemer, there is nothing that He cannot redeem.

Below you will find the five-day links for each daily study. If you prefer a paper version of this study, you can download the PDF below. At the end of your five days, I would love to hear how God is working in your life, so be sure to send me a note.

I am praying for you, my friend, as you chase the God who Heals and Redeems!

  • Day 1 | Hurt - Jesus gets it.

He is not a distant or impersonal God. The Father willingly gave up His own Son to a violent and undeserving death. So when we hurt, our God can sympathize. He is close to the brokenhearted. Not just in proximity but also in practice.

  • Day 2 | Hurt - when I cause pain to myself

You are His handiwork, so believe it and live in it. He has good works for you to do, so be in the right mind space to receive such assignments. You are saved through Him, so work at internalizing that He is for you and you are His.

  • Day 3 | Hurt - when others inflict us

This is hard because it might mean some additional moments of pain. Revisiting past pain is necessary if you have accepted it as a forever friend. Address the lies and labels given to you by someone other than God.

  • Day 4 | Hurt - when we need shelter

Too often we are focused on the pain as our first thoughts because the pain can be so blaring and prominent! BUT, my friend, John remembered that as he faced his darkest moment, he was leaning against the Lord. Where have you previously found the protection and shelter of your Loving Father?

  • Day 5 | Hurt - making the unseen, seen

There is no trial where He is not and there is no circumstance that goes unseen. God sees you in your darkest moments and He loves you through them. You have not been forgotten. Today, repent of what you have unrighteously held to and then relent control and invite Him into your places of pain.

I would love to hear from you.
